The Role
At Last Mile Health (LMH), we are all teachers and learners. Do you have a record of leading research and evaluation healthcare initiatives and high-performing teams? If so, you may be our next Director of Research, Monitoring and Evaluation in Liberia.
As the Director of Research, Monitoring, & Evaluation (RM&E) reporting to the Liberia Country Director, you will lead an incredible Liberia-based RM&E team, oversee departmental workstreams such as community-based information systems and digital health, and synthesize research findings for a range of internal and external partners. Your technical expertise, ability to clearly communicate complex information, and great people development instincts will be critical to building truly learning-oriented clinical program and organizational culture.
What You'll Do
- In partnership with global and country leadership, set the vision and strategy for a successful and high-impact research, monitoring, and evaluation agenda for Liberian programming.
- Develop multi-year and annual operational plans that are comprehensive, actionable, and inclusive of core RME workstreams.
- Lead and coach team members who are leading core workstreams and provide timely and technical feedback, including support on: data collection and reporting systems, community-based information systems, digital health tools, and implementation research.
- Develop and adapt learning guidelines to promote reflective practices and promote use of data and learning across departments, including serving as senior representative for donor meetings and external convenings.
- Lead or support development and design of research studies and evaluations at field sites in Liberia and disseminate findings from research studies among in-country stakeholders, including the LMH programs team and the Liberia Ministry of Health
- Analyze trends and patterns in Liberia’s National Community Health Assistant program and oversee the creation of reports to guide decision-making at management and policy levels.
- Be available to travel up to 15%, mostly throughout Liberia.
What You'll Bring
- Several years of experience in the monitoring & evaluation of public health programs, preferably in developing world settings
- Significant experience managing, coaching, and developing staff
- Strong data management skills, including working knowledge of relational databases and statistical software.
- Demonstrated ability to promote and enable organization-wide data use.
- Graduate degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related public health quantitative methods field preferred
