The Role

At Last Mile Health, we are all teachers and learners. Are you a highly-organized systems thinker with a background working in the global health sector? If so, you may be our next Program Associate.

This Program Associate will support the Health Investment & Policy (HIP) team’s strategic goals to improve the design and performance of community health systems in several engagement countries. The HIP team works with LMH’s country teams and other partners to design and execute these programs, build coalitions, support technical input into normative documents, and mobilize resources towards quality in community health.

The Program Associate ensures the effectiveness of the HIP team by contributing to content creation, executing on programmatic objectives and providing logistical and administrative support.The team is hiring two associates currently - either reporting to the Director, Country Engagement or the Director, Technical Assistance. The Program Associate will be based in New York City.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide coordination and scheduling for in-country engagements, country convenings, workshops, conferences, and trainings including the development and organization of relevant background materials, agendas, and other pre-meeting logistics with partners and additional stakeholders
  • Conduct and synthesize extensive research on community health systems and best practices
  • Support country engagements through the development of talking points, presentations, graphics, and other required communications materials
  • Support the data collection, collation, and writing of relevant documents to support engagement with Ministries of Health and key stakeholders
  • Monitor and reconcile budget reports and expenses and prepare and submit expense reports working independently to research and resolve any discrepancies
  • Engage in special projects as assigned for grant writing, concept notes, publications, white papers, etc.
  • Support technical coordinators, senior technical coordinators, and directors in project execution as key part of project teams

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree; concentration in international development or global health preferred
  • 3-5 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years working with an international development or global health NGO, working in the global health sector, or other relevant experience
  • Strong organizational and writing skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff and external partners
  • Robust knowledge management skills, including the advanced use of major office applications

You’ll Impress Us If

  • You have a Master's Degree or recent graduate-level training
  • You have demonstrated multi-cultural literacy. French language competency is a plus.
