Software Development Project Manager Consultant

The Role

As a Software Development Project Manager Consultant, you will manage all LMH's software development projects and technical developments for open source health software. You will work alongside software vendors, LMH Managers, and designers to define scope, write technical specifications, execute contracts, and configure and customize LMH health technologies. You will manage vendor and programmatic timelines and budget, and coordinate the functional and unit testing on all developed code to ensure developments meet defined requirements.

This consultancy will last approximately 6 months and will be based out of Boston, MA. Please note that our US offices are currently closed due to the COVID-19 crisis, therefore this consultancy will be based remotely for the foreseeable future.

What You'll Do

  • Provide project management to Ona software engineers to oversee software modifications to the healthcare Android application, OpenSRP (https://github.com/OpenSRP) and Open Data Kit (https://github.com/opendatakit), two popular platforms for implementing digital surveys and healthcare tracking.
  • Provide project management to Digital Campus software engineers to oversee software modifications to Oppia Mobile (https://github.com/DigitalCampus/oppia-mobile-android), an eLearning software optimized for low connectivity.
  • Project manage freelance contractors to complete other software developments. In 2020, we expect three small contracts.
  • Work closely with the Ona, Digital Campus, and freelance contractors to agree upon development requirements and coordinate regular project updates. Provide strategic guidance to the Digital Health Director of Strategy on vendor contracts and software requirements, specifically identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Coordinate with LMH's Monitoring, Evaluation, Research & Learning (MERL), Programs, National Community Health Systems (NCHS), and Liberia Digital Health (DH) departments to draft development requirements and acceptance criteria, collect feedback, and conduct testing.
  • Support the Global Digital Health Standardize Software Development administrative procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining and updating LMH's software development roadmap, providing inputs into routine Global Digital Health management systems (Wrike and Trello), and improving standard operating procedures and tools to improve coordination between the Global DH practice and digital health teams based in Liberia & Malawi.

What You'll Bring

  • You have 5-10 years of experience project managing software development projects
  • You have experience with Android Studio and SDK tools, relational databases (Postgres and MySQL), Github, and have spent time working with open source technology.
  • Ability to assess technical requirements for application improvements and manage developers to complete required improvements following specified deadlines
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical content writing

You'll Impress Us If

  • You’ve implemented digital health products in low resource settings
  • You have excellent technical understanding of key areas of various industries and the technologies transforming them (digital strategy, transformation, IT infrastructure & architecture, cloud, analytics, cyber security, etc.)
