General Position Summary
The Marketing & Communications Specialist is a key member of the Partnerships and Development team, who will support the fund development goals of the organization in alignment with its mission, vision and values. This individual will report to the Director of Partnerships & Development and work closely with the Partnerships & Communications Officer to professionalize the organization’s marketing and communication strategy and implementation.
The Marketing & Communications Specialist will be responsible for executing a unified, consistent brand identity via the design of compelling, audience-tailored visual communications assets, including: annual and quarterly reports (digital and print), email marketing collateral, platform-specific social media content, website content, and print and digital marketing collateral for fundraisers, conferences, and donor meetings.
The ideal candidate will thrive in an entrepreneurial work environment and be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Essential Job Functions
Collaborate with the Director of Partnerships & Development and the Partnerships & Communications Officer to develop a marketing and communication strategy that advances the fund development of the organization, as well as promotes LMH’s advocacy efforts
Execute a unified, consistent brand identity via the design of compelling, audience-tailored visual communications assets, including annual and quarterly reports (digital and print), email marketing collateral, platform-specific social media content, website content, and print and digital marketing collateral for fundraisers, conferences, and donor meetings – Including brochures, posters, and slide presentations.
Lead the development of marketing strategy for fundraising campaigns that deliver on established revenue targets. Campaigns can include: Annual Appeal, Monthly Giving, Major Gifts, 10-year anniversary campaign, spring fundraising event.
Develop, execute, monitor, and continuously refine a platform-specific content marketing strategy to increase engagement amongst target audiences on Last Mile Health’s social media accounts.
Increase awareness for key LMH initiatives and events, including the Annual Appeal, Annual Gala, Major Giving and Monthly Giving Campaigns
Oversee LMH’s website (www.lastmilehealth.org), to encourage online engagement with all key stakeholders
Develop and regularly upload new content onto LMH’s website; creating new webpages, editing and archiving old content where necessary
Monitor, report and present on online engagement analytics (web, email, social media, external media)
Leverage key engagement metrics across platforms to optimize content, messaging and distributions
Qualifications
Master’s Degree with 2+ years of relevant professional experience preferred or Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in communications and/or marketing, preferably in a nonprofit organization
Relevant educational experience - Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field
Graphic design skills and experience (fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud suite preferred); experience with infographics a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (candidates selected to interview will be required to complete a practicum and submit samples of work)
Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
Proven results in implementing marketing and communications strategic plans
Proven results in managing social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) and analytics technologies to engage a diverse audience
Familiarity with CMS platforms (Wordpress, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines
Specialized experience, a plus –for example, working in public health or with an international non-profit organization
